Day 19 Diodes and Transistors

Today, we took a slight break from our normal physics classroom and focused instead on the electronics application to what we have been learning so far, mainly diodes and transistors

In the first portion of learning about diodes and transistors, we had to learn about a new equipment called a circuit board. Within that circuit board is a resistor, two wires and a light-bulb. Our goal was to get the bulb to light up.

The schematics of the final lab
In the last lab, we were asked to set up a system, using the boards that we had, to set up this system in order to produce sounds using our phones.
Our attempt

Here was our eventual set-up. However, it is to note that our set-up was not producing the sound that we were wanting, and we were receiving a lot of over-current while trying to attempt to set up, running out of time within the class before we could try.

During this class time, a lot more time was placed into understand transistors and diodes, especially about NPN (Negative-Positive-Negative) transistors and PNP (Positive-Negative-Positive) transistors. Although what we learned was the basics of the basics, with more of it in ELEC 60 class or PHYS 4C class, it is to note that we did indeed put our feet in the water for what we are going to be learning in the future.
